More diagnostics will be needed...

I put a section at the end of
http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/vortex.txt which shows how to
generate the extra info.  In your case I suggest you send us the `dmesg'
output and also the kernel logs which are generated when you run
`modprobe 3c59x debug=7'.
