I have just installed a 3C900 Combo card and have great
troubles of getting the system to work with the card.
The card was used in another machine before, however
another 3C595 behaved similar.
Kernel 2.0.38 with the driver fram 3Com (same result with
the one found in the kernel release).
When I try to access the card a message like this comes up:
Sep 2 01:11:57 gina kernel: 3c59x.c:v0.99H 11/17/98 Donald Becker
http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/vortex.html

autoselect/10baseT interface.
Sep 2 01:11:57 gina kernel: Enabling bus-master transmits and
whole-frame receives.
IRQ of 255 seems strange.
I do not know any way of setting the IRQ for PCI cards.
The other interrupt lines are as follows:
gina.uio.no 52>cat /proc/interrupts
0: 178646 timer
1: 3735 keyboard
2: 0 cascade
3: 7 + serial

13: 1 math error
14: 83610 + ide0
15: 7 + ide1
gina.uio.no 53>
Number 4, 8 and 10 are free to use.
Any suggestions of what might be the cause of this trouble ?
Please answer to me directly, since I do not read this mailing
list.
Thanks in advance!
