Hello,

Running SuSE 7.3 Pro (2.4.16 kernel) on a Compaq ML370 and am receiving
kernel lock-ups when doing a simple network scan from Nessus (no aggressive
DOS-type actions). I have upgraded to eepro100.c:v1.24 7/25/2002 driver
with same problem. The following netstat -a results should show that
literally nothing is running on the box:
Active Internet connections (servers and established)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address
State
	tcp 0 0 *:ssh *:*
LISTEN
	tcp 0 0 net4.ntl-city.c:ssh 10.48.x.x:close-combat
ESTABLISHED
	raw 0 0 *:raw *:*
7
Active UNIX domain sockets (servers and established)
Proto RefCnt Flags Type State I-Node Path
	unix 4 [ ] DGRAM 527 /dev/log
	unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 2990
	unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 2989
	unix 2 [ ] DGRAM 2977
	unix 2 [ ] DGRAM 965

The following is from the dmesg output for the ethernet card:
eth0: OEM Intel PCI EtherExpress Pro100 at 0xf9099000,
00:50:8B:94:E1:54, IRQ 15.
Board assembly 009542-003, Physical connectors present: RJ45
Primary interface chip i82555 PHY #1.
	  Forcing 100Mbs full-duplex operation.
	  General self-test: passed.
	  Serial sub-system self-test: passed.
	  Internal registers self-test: passed.
	  ROM checksum self-test: passed (0x24c9f043).
	  Receiver lock-up workaround activated.

Here is a shot of the ifconfig for the interface:
	eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:8B:94:E1:54
	          inet addr:10.49.x.x Bcast:10.49.x.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
	          RX packets:3751 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
	          TX packets:825 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
	          collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
	          RX bytes:339767 (331.8 Kb) TX bytes:105858 (103.3 Kb)
	          Interrupt:15 Base address:0x9000
The server is consistently freezing up when the scan is run. Have also seen
this lock-up under heavy network loads. Has someone else seen this before?
Tried to search the archives but did not see anything obvious.

Any help is appreciated.
