At the time we were building a machine running Windows2000 server.
Customer had requested a dual ethernet card.
Windows install detected the card and installed drivers, which did not work.
Card showed up in Device Manager with an exclamation mark, ethernet
services failed on startup.
Tried drivers from 3COM CD supplied with card, same results.
Checked 3COM drivers webpage for newer, found what was on CDROM is current.
Then tried installing Linux on same machine to see if card would work. It
did not.
Sent back card under warranty, installed DLink 4 port tulip card, which
worked, shipped computer to our customer.
Now we have back another 982 under warranty, still sitting in box.
I am now wondering if the 982 is incompatible, so will test this on another
Tyan Tiger MP board to determine if this is incompatible.

True. On Tyan Thunder boards we get a 3C920 chip, which simulates a pair of
3C905C, and these work flawlessly.

OK, will do.
