[vortex] 3com vortex questions

After some fiddling I got the RPM to work. mostly.
the last step (rpm -i --force netdriver-2.0-*.i386.rpm)
fails dependencies, says it needs /bin/sh which is there.
any ideas?

I tried building updated drivers into the kernel as well, but that fails
as well, the problem looks like the layout of the instructions. it's hard
to tell where the line breaks are supposed to be in the documentation on
the website, if there are supposed to be any (?)
I either get a multiple targets error or some other error during a make
modules compile.
