[vortex] EEPROM repair?

If you scramble your 3cXXX NIC's EEPROM badly enough, the card is dead.

Does anyone know of a tool which will restore an EEPROM back to factory
defaults?

3com have a dos-based tool but it only allows you to set a few fields:
MAC address, IRQ, DMA, things like that.


If the answer to the above is "no", are there any brave souls who could
look into turning vortex-diag into an EEPROM backup/restore program? 
(That's what I was doing when my PCMCIA NIC turned into a doorstop :-()
