I'm sending this again, LinuxPPC screwed up my date & time on the mac
side. To anyone who is seeing this again, I apologize.
I'm having trouble getting my Farallon FastEtherTX card to work with
LinuxPPC. The drive compiles fine as both a module and in the kernel.
When the system boots the card appears to be initialized:
3c59x.c:v0.99H 11/17/98 Donald Becker http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/vortex.html
eth0: 3Com 3c595 Vortex 100baseTx at 0x400, 00:00:c5:4f:56:e6, IRQ 23
8K byte-wide RAM 5:3 Rx:Tx split, 10baseT interface.
eth0: Overriding PCI latency timer (CFLT) setting of 32, new value is 248.

Then when the system is up and running you can ping but you get total
packet loss. When I ping my box from another machine it's the same
story. This is what ifconfig reports after you try to ping:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:00:C5:4F:56:E6
inet addr:216.32.200.181 Bcast:216.32.200.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
EtherTalk Phase 2 addr:65280/133
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:49 overruns:0 carrier:0 coll:0
Interrupt:23 Base address:0x400
When I ping I see the activity light on the card blinking and the port
light on the hub blinks but none of the other port lights ever blink
when I ping. I've checked out the route and everything seems to be fine
so it looks like it's the card. Any idea? Is there anything else to try
or should I give up and get a DEC based card.
Cheers,
Matthew Reilly
