This problem occurred with some 3c905B cards when used with v0.99E.
The correct solution is to use v0.99H or v0.99H-WOL.
If you are already using v0.99H, then there is some problem that I don't
understand. (Oh, in general you should *not* use media-forcing options
unless you must use 10base2 or AUI transceivers. Specifically, "10baseT"
or "100baseTx" isn't a valid media selection for cards with MII
transceivers. The MII transceiver handles 10 and 100baseTx automagically. )
