I recently compiled the devel vortex driver from the cesdis site, and it
seems to work on one of my servers, but not the other two. However, I get
these errors in my /var/log/dmesg
eth0: Setting promiscuous mode.
eth0: Transmit error, Tx status register 82.
The only reason I know they are from the vortex, is because they didn't
show up until I added the vortex to my system.
Currently, my ISP is having network outages, so only half of my network is
functioning, but I still have access to the servers.
I will attempt compiling the other 2 servers when the rest of the network
is functioning, but for now, I'd like to know why it makes these error
messages and how to remove them.
In order to get the driver functioning, I just replaced the old 3c59x.c
file, with the new one. I'm running Suse 6.1 on 2 of the servers (one of
them works) and redhat axp on one. If anyone knows how to rid a system of
unaligned traps, please let me know. I could seriously use some help w/
that.
I realize that axp isn't the purpose of this list, but if anyone has any
experience w/ unaligned traps, please let me know how to get rid of them.
Thank You
