I'm using a 10/100 Linksys-tulip chipset with RedHat 6.2, kernel 2.2.18. I have the
latest drivers. The problem is that the network lags from time to time.
It's something like this:
64 bytes from ZAMOLXIS.MIT.EDU (18.244.1.85): icmp_seq=941 ttl=255 time=2.0 ms
64 bytes from ZAMOLXIS.MIT.EDU (18.244.1.85): icmp_seq=942 ttl=255 time=1.6 ms
64 bytes from ZAMOLXIS.MIT.EDU (18.244.1.85): icmp_seq=943 ttl=255 time=0.3 ms
64 bytes from ZAMOLXIS.MIT.EDU (18.244.1.85): icmp_seq=944 ttl=255 time=4004.3 ms
64 bytes from ZAMOLXIS.MIT.EDU (18.244.1.85): icmp_seq=945 ttl=255 time=3008.2 ms
64 bytes from ZAMOLXIS.MIT.EDU (18.244.1.85): icmp_seq=946 ttl=255 time=2010.1 ms
64 bytes from ZAMOLXIS.MIT.EDU (18.244.1.85): icmp_seq=947 ttl=255 time=1011.9 ms
64 bytes from ZAMOLXIS.MIT.EDU (18.244.1.85): icmp_seq=948 ttl=255 time=13.6 ms
64 bytes from ZAMOLXIS.MIT.EDU (18.244.1.85): icmp_seq=949 ttl=255 time=1.5 ms
64 bytes from ZAMOLXIS.MIT.EDU (18.244.1.85): icmp_seq=950 ttl=255 time=0.2 ms
64 bytes from ZAMOLXIS.MIT.EDU (18.244.1.85): icmp_seq=951 ttl=255 time=0.3 ms
64 bytes from ZAMOLXIS.MIT.EDU (18.244.1.85): icmp_seq=952 ttl=255 time=0.2 ms
I have tested 2 other network cards that have a rtl8139 chip and I get the same problem.
Any ideas what can be wrong? Is it possible that the pci-scan driver bugs? I have an
Athlon 1Gz on a KT7 motherboard.
thanks,
