[tulip] compaq presario

hi all,

since several hours i am trying to get my compaq presario
1700 (17XL573) connected to our 100BaseTX: full duplex net.
i am using suse linux 7.2 (kernel 2.4.4-4GB). unfortunately
i didn't manage to find the right driver for the built in
ethernet card:

Compaq 10_100 MiniPCI Ethernet NIC

so i've tried the latest (?) driver tulip.c (v0.92w 7/9/2001). i've
compiled
it and followed the instructions for the installation. unfortunately
there is still a problem. i still cannot connect a different computer.

when shutting down the system there are messages like

Error while excuting:
/sbin/route del default gw 129.187.126.254 dev eth0
SIOCDELRT: No such device
.
.
.
"eth0: unknown interface: No such device"


i really appreciate any help.
