is it possible to test it using just one com[puter? I have another
computer but it has on-board network card so I cannot just switch them.
would it be possible to have two cards (on-board one and lne100tx) in
the same computer, connect on to another and test them that way?

since I don't have spare motherboard I tried to test it using the same
mothjerboard but taking out unnecessary card - the modem and sb 64 awe,
both ISA PnP cards. no change.

however, after I put them back in, suddenly modem is on IRQ 9 where
the network card used to be, network card is on IRQ 10 and it freezes (I
have to reaload the driver to make it work again). I have tried the
latest test driver (0.92p) and 0.92 with your patches (he last tulip.c
that you've sent me, with some tx changes). That's weird because it
didn't freezed before (there where tx timeoutsd on particular
connections only). I put the cards into exactly the same slots where
they used to be.

this is what ifconfig eth0 says:

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:20:78:12:14:CC
          inet addr:192.168.1.1 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
          BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:1590 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:1421 errors:5413 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
          Interrupt:10 Base address:0xb000

it used to report carrier errors before, while now it just reports
uinspecified errors. I cannot find error messages anywhere, even though
I am not sure where to look, they are not in syslog, xconsole or any of
the virtual consoles)

does this make any sense? I guess it shows that the card is extremely
sensitive HW changes in computer.
