Kingston KNE100TX and Alpha LX164

I'm having problems with a KNE100TX and an Alpha LX164-based system. The
card won't properly initialize, though it does enough that it's properly
ifconfig'd. That is, it ifconfig's correctly, but it isn't "really there".
It is plugged into a 3Com Baseline 10/100 switch; the link light is on on
the card, but not the switch. No other lights are on or flash on the NIC.
Any thoughts/suggestions?
