Compling seems to work ok, but I still don't think the correct Media type is being used under Linux

I have an Adaptec ANA-6911/TXC Congent 10/100 PCI NIC card.

It seems as though it is not auto-sensing the correct media type.
I downloaded the latest driver, compiled to tulip.o
insmod in linux single
and rebooted.
Still will not ping anything but it's own IPaddr.

Anybody have any suggestions.
