Thank you very much for your fast answer. Just to clarify the situation: It 
looks like a broken card now: Even with a cold start the card was not able 
to establish a link. The cable and the switch port work perfectly with 
another of my computers with the same configuration. After the card was 
replaced the faulty system works normal again for two days now. The 
definite proof would be that the card fails in another computer, but I 
currently have no more feedback on this issue.
