It is D0 for both of them.

I've got to admit that I have no idea what that meant, but I guess it 
isn't conclusive.

I'll give this a try next week and get back to you since I have to burn a 
cd with lib-mii on it to recompile mii-diag in order to use that, and I've 
got to leave work for now. In the meantime when I've got a minute or two 
I'll see if I can't get Dell to just replace this recalcitrant machine.
