Intel ethernet adapter + driver issues

I'm running 2.4.20-pre2 or 5 on my dual/xeon/gigabit machine;
the driver that's in those kernels is a cleaned up version of Intel's,
I think.  it certainly seems to work well, and seems to be recommended.
