Unable to use network w/ TurboLinux 4.0

I suddenly starting getting this same error,  
after having used the LinkSyS LNE100TX without problems for weeks.
(using v.91g installed as a module, under RH5.2)

I went back the old 8bit card, but while looking at the problem I 
noticed my gateway wasn't quite setup for routing properly,
and I'd get DUPS when pingging sometimes.  I Don't know if it
has anything to do with the problem, but thought I'd throw it out.
