I know that you already spent a lot of time on this, but would it be 
possible to test 2.2.20 with its own driver (that one that works) with 
APIC on ?

I don't know exactly what are the differences between the vanilla 2.2.20 
driver and Don's; to me it looks like there is a race somewhere in the Tx 
path. Unfortunately I'm very busy at the moment and I can't spend much 
time on this...
