I tried that, but it doesn't work. I just get a network not reachable
error when I try to ping. The network I'm on is an all-switch network,
so I can't even ping a computer in the next room without going through a
switch. IP addresses are also completely dynamically configured
(*grumble*), so the only way for the network and the switches to
recognize my computer is for me to get an IP from the DHCP server. As
screwed up as all that sounds, my other box, which has an identical
software setup but a different network card, signed onto the network on
the first try, without having to change any of the default settings. So
I doubt that it's a problem with the network.... any other ideas?
should I just buy a new network card?
