The approach I'm taking is adding power management (APM, not ACPI)
support at the pci-scan level. The prototype code is in the test
directory

The current plan is to test this on an IBM a20m with the 3Com mini-PCI
card. I was going to borrow the machine before its delivered to Karen, its
real user. However that machine hasn't yet been built :-< by IBM.
The previous laptops were ordered without Ethernet adapters ("we saw
that you already had plenty of Ethernet cards that we could use").
