i also have the "unresolved symbol" problem.

yes, i compiled and did insmod pci-scan.o too, that installed without
errors. i do not know which i tried to insmod first, but i did both.

and then i went back again and tried "insmod 3c59x.o" and received the above
errors again, so the problem is not "order of operations". 

the kernel attempts to use them both during boot, but "initialization of
eth1 delayed" or something really close to that, i assume because the driver
is giving the kernel the same errors it gives me.

any suggestions?
