That's right. As soon as I don't force it, it goes back to half-duplex
(which is the same as the switch status indicates).

When I do force it to full-duplex, performance goes down the drain. The
switch then still thinks it's half-duplex so I guess that is what causes
problems.

It always succesfully resets and restarts, so after a while things resume,
my music comes back. I don't have to do anything special, just sit and
wait.

Oh, doing tests outside of X gives the same results.
