[vortex] 3C905 unplug/replug redux

After perusing the docs from 3com and also the datasheet for the
DP83840, it seems like it's the case that the parallel detection with
the 83840 doesn't work quite as advertised, or that perhaps my cheapo
hub doesn't generate good enough signal for parallel detection.  I was
going to set up a test rig to watch the signals on a scope, but then I
remembered that Fry's has Linksys tulipoid cards for $20, and decided
on that instead.  If anyone wants my 3c905tx to play with, email me
offlist and we'll see what can be arranged.

That said, it's been quite interesting to learn about all this stuff,
and thanks to Donald, Bogdan, and the others who responded.
