As a success report:
I just used 3c59x ver 99G on a 3c905B Cyclone and the "power-up"
sequence worked.
Details:
We have some NT boxes that are due to become dual boot NT/debian linux
boxes. I went through the install and got stuck when the 3c59x driver
didn't seem to work. I had the ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff MAC address problem.
I am using a Dell Dimension XPS 300, Bios A08. It's using NT4
Workstation build 1381 with Service Pack 3. When I used the 99E version
of the 3c59x driver, the only way I could get the net card to work after
booting into windows was to remove the power cord and restart. Now with
3c59x 99G under linux 2.036pre20 it works from a cold boot, a warm boot
from WinNT, and a warm boot from Linux.
Thanks! Donald, I'll buy you a beer, sushi, pizza, or something similar
next time I'm in the DC area.
Thanks again,
Darren, sysadmin at University of Washington
