[vortex-bug] 3c905C and DELL pentium

I'm trying to setup a Linux system for a friend on a Dell. I copied my
working system over to his machine and installed a 3c905c. The system
<appears> to boot fine, iconfig on the NIC looks good, but the link comes up
10Mbit and I can't ping or access the LAN in any way.

When the system boots I get the following lines during the NIC startup:

eth0:
MII transceiver found at address 1, status 24.
MII transceiver found at address 2, status 24.

This doesn't match my system messages as I get something like:

MII transceiver found at address 24, status 782d.

Anyone have a clue for me?
