3c905c falling asleep?!

I have a machine running 2.2.12 with a Tornado (3C905C) card in
it. After being untouched for a while (hours), it stops responding to
pings. If I login to a machine connected to the same hub and ping it,
it comes right back to life and is visible to the outside world.

Any ideas?
