seems like the .99f driver doesn't work for me (at least) unless I boot
into windows 95/nt first, (then proceed to linux) then the card gets
activated correctly. However on a straight linux box this doesn't do me or
my customers any good, as I get the same messages you get, except the
card doesn't get initialized... So for single boot linux machines I use
the .99E version of the driver.  .99E is available in the 2.0.35

I haven't had the time to play with this further, unfortunately....
