3c905B-TX conflicts with 0x378 ?

Hello, I hope this is an appropriate place for my question.
I bought and installed a 3c905B-TX for use with a cable-modem.
This works fine under mswindows. I then tried to use it under linux.
I used the 3c59x.c:v0.99E 5/12/98 version of D. Becker's driver and
got the card recognized with a MAC ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff. I cold booted the
system and the card was recognized with the correct MAC. I installed
dhcpcd and obtained a nice connection. So far so good.
I tried then to print something and got a
lp1 at 0x0378, (polling)
message.
Nothing happened. I tried to insmod ez (for a syquest parallel port
external drive) and got a
ez: Ports at 0x378 are not available
I repeated the above procedure and verified that right until I do
insmod 3c59x, I can access via my parallel port both the printer and the
drive. So the ethernet card somehow blocks the parallel port.
The parallel port is at IRQ 7 and the ethernet card is at IRQ 10.
Up to now I am not getting the 3com card detected at boot time. Instead
I get (from dmesg)
Warning : Unknown PCI device (10b7:9055). Please read include/linux/pci.h
Warning : Unknown PCI device (1274:5000). Please read include/linux/pci.h
I get the card detected when I manually insmod 3c59x after the cold-boot.
Perhaps all I need is to detect the ethernet card at boot time.
Any ideas? Obvious things I am missing?
Thank you!
