tx timeout error

I operate several machines using boomerang cards attached to a 100bt
network.  Every now and again, I get kernel messages with transmit timeout
errors. Sometimes these errors can lock up the machine so that a physical
reboot is necessary, as no network activity can get in.  What can be done?
I'm running 2.0.35 with .099E of the 3c59x.c

What can be done to make the machines more stable? Is this some sort of
attack on my machines? Just lookin for a few answers. Any help would be
appreciated.  Muchas gracios
