[tulip] How to compile in kernel

Hello,
I want to insert the tulip driver for my Compaq Presario, in the kernel. But
I
don't know the procedure. I have to copy tulip.c in usr/.../net/tulip, or
what?? Have I to change something in the makefile inside usr/.../net/tulip
or in usr/.../net/tulip. I am lost.
I have been able to insert the tulip driver as a module, but there is a
probleme because the net configuration (IP adresss ... etc) are made befaure
the installation of driver.
