Does this setting change after the problem starts?

What does /proc/net/dev report?  (What is the specific types of Rx error?)

Curious: this transceiver was set up to only advertise 100baseTx-FDX.

You negotiated 100FDX -- verify that this remains the case when you
start having problems.
