[tulip] Problem with a 9332DST

I have a SMC 9332DST which supports 10/100 but is only
connecting at 10/half duplex.  The system is running
RH 7.1/kernel 2.4.2-2.  If I add options to force the
card to either (or both) 100 and full deplex in
modules.conf, eth0 will not load.  If I try insmod, it
tells me that "a module named tulip already exists." 
In the /var/log/messages eth0 always fails when
attempting to bring up the network.
