It would have to be "new old stock".
Intel announced EOL (End Of Life / scheduled End Of Production) on the
21140 years ago. They actually announced EOL on the 21143 at the same
time, but the objections (contracts?) were so vigorous that they
relented. Part of the story might have been that the i82559 wasn't
suitable for CardBus implementations.
There were well over a dozen 21140 designs. The most important to test
are the ones with the substitute media table in the driver. Especially
odd boards are the
SMC with a relay (!) to switch between 10 and 100 SYM transceiver.
Boca with two RJ45 jacks, on each for 10 and 100, SYM transceiver.
Be certain to test at least one MII board. Most later 21140 boards use
MII transceivers in order to do NWay.
