Hi,

I was wondering if you could help me get my LinkSys 10/100TX NIC working
under RH 7.0. I know I should be using the tulip driver but I can't get it to
recognize the NIC at boot-up. My attempt to configure it using netconfig
results in an "eth0 failed" message when Linux is booting. I know the
hardware is working. It runs fine under Windows Me and my switch even lights
up when Linux is booted indicating there is a "hardware" connection at 100.
The card came with a driver disk but under Linux there is a readme file with
instructions on how to download and setup the appropriate driver. The link in
the file is dated....it refers to NASA as the place to find drivers. It also
refers to Red Hat as version 5.2. Linksys' site is no better. It simply
refers to your site where a newbie like me immediately gets lost trying to
figure what I need and how to get it and set it up.

I have a peer to peer network at home with 4 workstations. Under WinMe, I can
play multiplayer games, share a printer and files and connect to the Internet
using connection sharing. I'd like to be able to access my local network when
Linux is booted and even use the Linux box as a gateway to the Internet for
the other Windows workstations, maybe a simple firewall. Can you help?

Thanks in advance.
Jim
