Sorry. My previous message referred to the Netgear FX310 :-( I made the
mistake because I too started with the Netgear FX311. After *extensive*
investigation, I came to the conclusion that the FX311 in the revision
supplied to me, was plain broken. It uses a Natsemi chip which I suspect
was not really debugged in the version supplied to me. It is *not* a
tulip chip. See www.scyld.com for information and the correct driver.
Even if the Natsemi chip was working correctly, it is most unlikely to
even remotely approach the performance of a tulip chip.

I strongly recommend that you exchange the FX311 for the FX310 which is
a tulip based design, and is slightly cheaper than the FX311. This on
the assumption that you will find it easier to exchange for another
Netgear model. Otherwise, choose any other higher performance design,
perhaps tulip based.
