Help, please!
I've installed Linux-Mandrake 6.1 on a Compaq Presario 1800T laptop
and am having trouble getting networking to function properly.
Under Windows 98 the network adapter is described as an Intel
21143/2 based 10/100 mbps Ethernet Controller and communicates
satisfactorily with the other computers on my local network (under W98).
I obtained v0.91g of the tulip.c driver, compiled it with options set as
instructed, and installed it in /lib/modules/2.2.13-7mkd/net. I still have
trouble communicating with the network. I can 'ping 127.0.0.1' OK and I can
ping myself (192.9.200.11) OK, but when I try to ping other machines on the
network, for example, 'ping cacpen', I get
PING cacpen (192.9.200.8): 56 data bytes
--- cacpen ping statistics ---
6 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
The response to 'ifconfig -a' is

I've extracted the following from /var/log/messages.
