Excessive Ethenet Collisions: v.091/2.0.36/21143

Sorry to have delayed answering, this got pushed to the back burner for a while.

The netmasks match what our Alpha servers are running without apparent problems. In
addition, I've been able to substantially reduce the number of collisions by no longer
running Netscape on an Alpha server and utilizing my Linux system as the X11 display
server (if I've got my X11 terminology right). Stalled downloads from web sites was
the primary cause of the collisions, for some reason. Utilizing Netscape "in house"
has apparently cured it.

If there are problems with the netmask/broadcast settings, our network folks are not
aware of them. And, these have been mandated by those in the enterprise network office.

Thanks for your assistance,
Michael

> check your network settings for the ethernet devices, to repeat: The netmask for the loopback address is wrong. The broadcast for eth0 is wrong, the netmask for
> eth0 may be wrong. Those can also cause excessive collisions.
