Trouble with LNE100TX card

I have the same network card on my Pentium 133 machine running Redhat Linux 6.0
I copied the tulip.c from version 0.91g on top of the tulip.c in the kernel 
source directory and then
recompiled the kernel with the tulip driver included rather than as a module.
