Ah, I think I see the problem. I am still not clear on how the
"contributory infringement" works. My understanding was that this could
only be used when someone else actually infringed the copyright. If no
copying is done, that could not really be possible. Is not a direct
copyright infringment required by another party to establish a
contributary infringment?

Again, the gpl itself is not at all clear on this. The link to cesdis you
sent does not really clear up the underlying reasons why this would be a
problem according to the gpl text and the copyright law, it only notes
that such is the case. Since I am not really interested in the gpl but
rather the copyright law and system itself this is less than helpful.

Also, I believe that the system of contributary infringment is mostly an
american system, does anyone have references to other areas and/or
international treaties which implement a common basis?
