Here is a quick test of transmitting performance of the new Netgear FA310FX
equipped with the new Lite-On chip.
As a comparison a DEC Tulip-based (SMC) board was used.
The test was done with the FASTROUTE path. Each run injected 100000 64 byte
packets at more or less at wire speed. Packets were received on eth0 and
sent on eth1. The eth1 was the new Netgear FA310FX in run 1-2 and a Tulip-
based SMC in run 3-4.

Estimated routing throughput (best run taken) in packets per second:
Lite-On: 62694/0.678664 = 92378 PPS
DEC Tulip: 99994/0.678618 = 147349 PPS
Seems like the Tulip chip can transmit at wire speed with 64 byte packets but
not Lite-On.
