Hi All,
I have a problem with the Adaptec 6911A/TX Combo PCI card...
Configuration---
Pentium-II/233 on 440BX motherboard (Tyan),
Adaptec - ANA6911A/TX Combo NIC
Debian Linux 2.0 (2.0.34_2.0.34-4) kernel
Tulip Driver 0.89K
I needed to patch with
>outl(inl(ioaddr+CSR15) & ~(0x800037c0),ioaddr+CSR15);
in the tulip_probe1 routine.
Evidently the card does not reset or clear certain bits
in register 15 and hence the status of the MII mux is
sketchy...
NOW this configuration works fine on the MII (UTP ports)
and autoconfigures as you wish.. (at least 100BaseTx is fine)
MY PROBLEM..
No matter if I force it to use 10Base2 or let the driver
attempt to negotiate the 10Base2 it fails... with a
"negotiation failed", and then the driver reverts to polling
the MII and UTP ports and succeeds..
You guessed it I *NEED* 10Base2 as I have 50 of these cards
in a laboratory wired in Coax... I will NOT be able to convert
to UTP for at least 8 months because of budgetting...
The card is working fine and Windows (puke) NT4.0 SP3 talks
fine through the 10Base2 port.
Are there any successes out there for 10Base2 on the ANA6911A/TXCombo
or any DEC21143-PA based cards with a 10Base2.
