I'm getting these messages at boot up with my DEC tulip based SMC
EtherPower ethernet card.
Nov 3 10:27:13 localhost kernel: tulip.c:v0.88 4/7/98
becker@cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov
Nov 3 10:27:13 localhost kernel: eth0: Digital DS21140 Tulip at 0xd800,
00 e0 29 00 cc b3, IRQ 11.
Nov 3 10:27:13 localhost kernel: eth0: EEPROM default media type
Autosense.
Nov 3 10:27:13 localhost kernel: eth0: Index #0 - Media MII (#11)
described by a 21140 MII PHY (1) block.
Nov 3 10:27:13 localhost kernel: eth0: MII transceiver found at MDIO
address 3, config 3100 status 7849.
Nov 3 10:27:13 localhost kernel: eth0: No link beat on the MII interface,
status then 7849 now 7849.
Nov 3 10:27:13 localhost kernel: eth0: No link beat on the MII interface,
status then 7849 now 7849.
I started getting similar error messages in the messages log file about
the same time that a hub blew. The hub has been replaced, but I'm getting
the same error messages. Could I also have a problem with the ethernet
card? Could this be the result of a power surge? No other ethernet cards
on the LAN are suffering problems, however. Any suggestions?
Any help would be appreciated.
