program as a rtl8139B variant.

The report said:
 Your link partner advertised 45e1: Flow-control 100baseTx-FD 100baseTx
10baseT-FD 10baseT, w/ 802.3X flow control.

That's a modern switch -- it even has flow control.
Ethernet switch chips are now so inexpensive that there are few
repeaters.
