Hello,

I am having a hard time configuring the network card on a linux workstation
that uses the SMC EtherPower II network card.

I have a P4 1400mhz with 256MB RAM running two OSes, Windows 2000 and Red
Hat Linux 7.3 (kernel v. 2.4.18-3 arch i686). Under Windows all the
hardware is configured properly using the BIOS setup (in the BIOS, I have
set no OSes as PnP able).

I downloaded the 'netdrivers-rh70.i386.rpm' from Scyld.com and installed it
using rpm -iv command. I then went to where all the modules were, and ran
insmod epic100.o and it gave me a bunch of errors, which are listed below:

epic100.o: unresolved symbol release_region_R43bde9b1
epic100.o: unresolved symbol eth_type_trans_R02771567
epic100.o: unresolved symbol skb_over_panic_R4f682074
epic100.o: unresolved symbol init_etherdev_R3808c591
epic100.o: unresolved symbol eth_copy_and_sum_R394509df
epic100.o: unresolved symbol add_timer_Rbea990b2
epic100.o: unresolved symbol pci_drv_unregister
epic100.o: unresolved symbol __kfree_skb_Rbc8c3f46
epic100.o: unresolved symbol bh_active_Rfff9d0a3
epic100.o: unresolved symbol alloc_skb_Rb134d5f4
epic100.o: unresolved symbol unregister_netdev_Re24126b3
epic100.o: unresolved symbol request_region_R6d32b2d7
epic100.o: unresolved symbol netif_rx_R0a3fcdc4
epic100.o: unresolved symbol del_timer_R5811f067
epic100.o: unresolved symbol pci_drv_register
epic100.o:
Hint: You are trying to load a module without a GPL compatible license
and it has unresolved symbols. The module may be trying to access
GPLONLY symbols but the problem is more likely to be a coding or
user error. Contact the module supplier for assistance, only they
      can help you.

I don't understand these errors. I tried to build the module from the
source (downloading epic100.c, pci-scan.c, pci-scan.h, and kern_compat.h)
and was able to construct the modules, but when I ran insmod epic100.o, I
got the same exact errors as above.

I don't get the hint :) If you guys can point me in the right direction, I
would appreciate it.

Regards,

Dan Silva
