[epic] EPIC100 SMC - 83C171A2QF

Hi,
  I am trying to use epic-diag to force my SMC EtherPower II Card
(83C171A2QF) into 10Mbps mode. The card seems to react to my commands only
by going completely dark and then it will reset itself and turn the
100Mbps and link lights back on. What can I do to force this card into
10Mbps? Trying at the firmware level with the software that SMC ships does
not work either..

Any ideas?
