I have a SMC 9432BTX ethernet adapter in my PC. This works under DOS and under
NT. I am now trying to get Linux working on my PC. I can't get the SMC 9432BTX
to work under Linux.
The RJ-45 connector is connected to a 3COM hub. Under both DOS and NT, they use
100MB half duplex. The card and hub will also operate together at 10MB.
I am using a Slackware Linux distribution which came with epic100 driver 1.04.
This did not work so I downloaded and compiled version 1.06. This also does
not work although unlike version 1.04 the sequence of values displayed starts
with the cards ethernet address.
The information displayed by dmesg shows the driver is detecting the card as
it logs the same interrupt (11), port (F800) and ethernet address (E02933F297)
as is displayed by the DOS driver. The DOS driver also displays a slot (16).
Attached are dmesg output and ifconfig output after booting Linux and
attempting to ping another computer on the network 3 times. I have also
tried pinging my computer from another computer. The other computer gets
no reply and ifconfig does not show any packets being received or sent at
my computer.
Any ideas about whats wrong with my Linux set-up ?
