trouble getting full duplex

I have a SMC EtherPower II plugged into a Baystack 350T 100mb port.  I get
100mb fine, but no full duplex.  I force the port on the switch, but full
duplex is a no go.

insmod epic100 debug=1 full_duplex=1

I'm thinking it's a cable problem.  Any tips on this?
