EtherPower II 10/100 on 10MBNC

Hi, 

I am running a 350MHz PII with SUSE5.3 linux.

I have a SMC EtherPower II 10/100 Combo (Both  RJ45 and BNC)
and trying to connect to a 10Mbps BNC LAN. This does not
work, since the driver selcts 100Mbps (according to status led).

The whole runs fine with NT4.0.

How can I achieve this for Linux ?
