[eepro100] Some run some don't

Dear List,
I am looking for a stable running netcard in the PC/104 form factor. All
cards a get until now are running unstable (do "ping [remoteip] -f -s 30000"
will crash the pc or produce network hangups after seconds or minutes).
When I use a PC/104 to PCI adaptor and try some 558 or 550 cards they work
stable, another 559 is also unstable. I heard it has maybe something to do
with the eeprom entries.
Is it possible to transplant the eeprom data from my running PCI 558 or 550
card to my not-running PC/104 559 card?
Or, if I get at least a running PCI 559 card, can I transplant the eeprom to
the PC/104 559 card? Does it make sense?
Or, the other way round: I have a bunch of netcards, some running stable,
some not. The all consist of only a piece of PCB and a 557/8/9/0 chip. What
makes one card stable and the other unstable????
(I use absolutely the same netbooted linux kernel (2.0.36RTL1.1) and the
same PC for all the different netcard tests, all with the same Becker-Driver
from July 2002. Almost all had the sleep bit set, I disabled it on every
card, it changed nothing.)
best regards
